more and MORE...

The weather may be cold and frightful out there but in here - HOT SOUP and warming of the souls! Another week and some new faces along with many familiar ones. Another FIRST - one participant confessed, "... this is the first peanut butter and jelly sandwich that I have eaten - ever!" It was hard to believe - but there it was. Perhaps it was a reaction to the homemade cheese and pimento spread. Paula Deen's recipe - more or less. Paula said "...no southern picnic could be without this classic" - and many enjoyed the different flavor this week along with the beef and root vegetable soup. Although that too brought forth one person's comment, "What is this? Cantaloupe in the soup?" No, honestly that was the rutabaga! Well next we we move south to get some added warmth - chicken tortilla soup and quesadillas. Come join the fun! There are always more PBJ's.

THIRD week and GROWING!

Again we are blessed! The numbers increase once again as we offered Ham, Potato, and Green bean soup along with Egg salad sandwiches. Everyone that I talked with seemed to enjoy the meal, but even more so they all appreciate the fact that we are all there together. The fellowship is wonderful for young and not so young! So many people are helping serve the meal as well as joining in other tasks, and even assisting in clean up. Next week we will serve Beef vegetable soup - possibly with barley.. I can't remember the accompaning selection. I'll have to find our list and pass that on.

Second Week!

GOD'S Blessings continue! For the second week people are joining in the FUN! Reports are that the food is good, and the fellowships is extraordinary. We made chili and corn beard. Initial tasting of the chili seemed too bland so I had the duty of adding more HOT spices. With a combination of cumin, Mexican chili powder, and hot pepper flakes most people seem to be OK with the slight HEAT of the dish. I did witness a few wipes of the brow - but as one participant said "...without some heat - all you have is tomato and bean soup!" Even Mrs. J ate, which is I believe a 'first'. Once again the donations were very generous. I made up some poster / fliers and gave them out to those who might be able to post them in places where others in the community might notice. We strive for more people to take advantage of the program. Coming next Wednesday - Ham, potatoes, and green bean soup, with egg salad sandwiches. (we will at least have peanut butter as an alternative)

FIRST TIME...

FANTASTIC! Thanks to so many who joined us in the first FOOD & FELLOWSHIP. We served turkey rice soup, grilled cheese, chips / crackers to a good number of people. Roughly we noted twenty-one meals, however there were more people there. Even with NO charge for the meal - donations were MORE than ever expected. Most everyone remained until the Way Cool Wednesday youth gathered for a prayer circle. Many joys as well as concerns were lifted up to our Lord. May all glory be to God for gracing the beginning of the program. I asked that everyone that came - bring a friend next week! We are planning chili and cornbeard. We always have fruit and veggies to balance the meals - as well as your choice of drink. Just in case - we have left overs for anyone who can't do the 'featured' soup!
